
The US government, in the form of The AMDR for protein, recommends that we get from 10% to 35% of our calories from protein. Below we look at what getting 35% of your calories from protein looks like.
I want to note that this is higher amount of protein than the amount that I have heard of any competitive bodybuilder eating. The government says that this is normal and in range for anyone. The government deems this as safe and valuable. I have never suggested more than this.
The standard of eating 1 gram of protein for each pound of lean body weight is less than this. Therefore, that standard is in no way too high or out of range.
Do not limit yourself to what you see online or in magazines or on TV or where ever "normal living" is represented. One version of normal living is eating 1 gram of protein for each pound of lean body weight.
